Name: Albert William Putnam
Birth Place: New York City, New York
Birth Date: 22 Sep 1877
Service Start Date: 27 Feb 1918                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Albert was born to Albert Edward Putnam and Margaret Elizabeth Morrison.

Enlisted, December 8, 1898, in Troop 2, Squadron A Cavalry, NYNY, New York City. Served with Troop 2, Squadron A Cavalry during the Croton Dam Strike ( 1900 ).
Commissioned, 2nd Lieutenant, Cavalry, in 1907 and 1st Lieutenant in 1910. Promoted to Captain, in 1914, and commander of Troop B, Squadron A Cavalry. He commander Troop B on the Mexican border service, June 1916 - Dec. 1916 .

Squadron A Cavalry reorganized for the World War as the 105th Machine Gun Battalion, 27th Division. He was assigned as commander of Company A, 105th Machine Gun Battalion. Feb. 21, 1918, he was assigned to the Heavy Machine Gun School, 27th Division, Camp Wadsworth, SC.
Promoted to Major and assigned to the 309th Cavalry, then to the 54th Field Artillery, 18th Division. Deployed to France, Sept. 30, 1918, commander of troop aboard the George Washington. Graduate of the Army General Staff College at Langres, France. He was hospitalized at Langres and Hyeres, France. Returned to the States, April 25, 1919, discharged from the service, April 28, 1919.

Education, Columbia University

Occupation, lawyer, Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts, 40 Wall Street, NY, NY. Director of the Rye Trust Co. & Tingue, Brown & Co. and trustee of the United Hospital, Port Chester.
